Our operations in Lesotho are not just commercially compelling. They represent a meaningful contribution to one of the world’s poorest nations.
Lesotho has a population of approximately 2.3 million, with over half living below the poverty line. Formal employment opportunities outside textile manufacturing and diamond mining are limited. Cannabis cultivation offers a new, sustainable economic pathway.
Employment
We employ local workers across planting, irrigation, security, harvesting, drying and quality control. These are formal, paid positions in a country where subsistence agriculture dominates. As we scale, we expect to become a significant employer in the Maseru district.
Skills Transfer
GACP-standard cultivation requires training in modern agricultural techniques, quality management, record-keeping and pharmaceutical compliance. The skills our workforce acquires are transferable across the broader agricultural sector, contributing to Lesotho’s long-term human capital development.
Economic Ripple Effect
Wages earned at our site flow directly into local economies. Spending on food, education, healthcare and housing creates secondary economic activity in transport, services and commerce. Our presence improves local infrastructure access and creates opportunity where little existed before.
